Terms of Service? C'mon, this site is about Burning Man! Read the back of your ticket!
OK, now stand up straight, raise your right hand, repeat after me, and nod your head up and down when I tell you to:
By camping with CampSPF during Burning Man, registering for this website, or just hugging the Mayor, you agree without reservations to release and forever discharge Camp SPF and all persons (including their significant others, progeny, and pets) ever connected in any way to Camp SPF or the CampSPF.org website, for the period of recorded history and all of eternity plus two weeks, from all manner of actions, causes of action, debts, accounts, bonds, contracts, claims and demands for or by reason of any damage, loss or injury to person and property which has been or may be sustained as a consequence of camping with Camp SPF, no matter how reasonable they may seem to you or Judge Judy.
I understand that this release of liability includes both predictable and unforeseen occurrences of any sort, including abrupt personality changes during Burn Week, shattered relationships caused by dehydration or Poly Paradise, or embarrassing rashes that may or may not show up around the second week of September.
[nod vigorously here]
That said, there are a few things you can count on as a member of Camp SPF. First and foremost, you will be accepted with love and respect in our camp. Read "A User's Guide to Happy Camping" to learn how to maintain and grow that love and respect. When using this website, your privacy as a burner is respected. Access to your forum posts and gallery photos is restricted to other approved members of Camp SPF. Considerable effort has been made to protect the privacy of this website from hackers and evil webbots, but all things interwebz are ultimately hackable so the terms of service above apply. We will never share your posts, photos, or profile information without your express permission.
Approval to access the Camp SPF website does not guarantee that you will be accepted as a member of Camp SPF at Burning Man. You will need to request membership from the Mayor directly or via the website. Camp membership is determined in accordance with our membership policy, with ultimate membership approval exercised by the Camp Mayor. All appeals to the membership process are also adjudicated by the Camp Mayor so, for the most part, if you're turned down for membership you're just gonna have to live with it.
And one last little bit of fine print: By accepting membership in Camp SPF, you also pledge to uphold the 10 Principles of Burning Man, support the practice of Leave No Trace, and agree to never MOOP the Playa. You also agree to participate in the camp by volunteering for lead positions or just helping with the work needed to make CampSPF an awesome place to live in Black Rock City.
Your pledge may be expanded in the future without notice but that's all we can think of at the moment.
Join in, participate, and burn brightly!
